Health Benefits of Manicures and Pedicures

There are so many reasons to treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure, not only is it a form of self-care for you it's also very beneficial for your body (you'll thank yourself later for making the time). Regularly investing in manicures and pedicures go far beyond just esthetics.

1. Prevents infections
If you don’t moisturize on a regular basis, the dry skin on your feet is more prone to infection due to cracks that may form. During a pedicure, there is clipping, cleaning, and cutting of your toenails that take place and will prevent your nails from growing inwards and causing an infection. Fungi often grows on toe nails when your feet are exposed to excess moisture. When moisture becomes trapped beneath the nail, it is more susceptible to this condition. Regular appointments promote strong, breathable and healthy nails.
2. Promotes healthy blood circulation
During a manicure and pedicure, you will receive a massage on your hands, lower legs, and feet. This will promote healthy blood circulation, reducing muscle tension, any pain you may be experiencing, and improve your joint mobility.
3. Boosted nail health
With regular manicures and pedicures the exfoliation will remove any dead skin cells and encourage new cell growth, leaving your nails stronger and healthier. The chances of your nails developing fungi and other infections are also reduced. Your nails and cuticles are also treated with solar oil to keep them protected, hydrated and healthy.
4. Get Rid of Calluses
Calluses are caused by repeated pressure or friction on an area of skin. This means that the pressure of your shoes, walking around barefoot and walking for long periods of time will cause calluses to appear on your feet. Calluses have the potential to become painful, and can be removed (sometimes it takes several appointments to completely remove the calluses depending on how deep and how long they have been there). Regular pedicures can also help you prevent getting calluses as they scrub off the dead skin cells on your feet. So say bye to cracked dry feet and hello to feet as smooth as a baby’s!
5. Reduction in back pain
You may be familiar with the calluses that form on the soles of your feet. Besides being frustrating and painful, these can also affect your body weight distribution and cause back pain. During a pedicure, there is exfoliation and deep cleaning of your feet to prevent calluses and help eliminate any pain you may have. Did I mention you also get this time to completely relax?!You can even turn on the massage chair and give your body the break it deserve.
6. It can make your hands and feet look younger and smoother
Manicures and pedicures massage improve blood flow, which is important in reducing cellulite, tightening your skin, and strengthening your muscles, all of which can improve the appearance of your hands and feet. Getting a manicure will help keep your hands soft as well as exfoliate the skin to remove all of the dirt and grime. Lastly your hands and feet are always hydrated leaving you with smooth skin.
7. Improved mental health.
Whether it’s a particularly stressful day or a crazy week, taking the time to treat yourself with a manicure and/or pedicure can do wonders for your stress levels! The massage, relaxing experience, and pampering will free your mind from any tension, boosting your mental health. Taking this break to get your nails done will allow you to stop overworking your brain for the duration of the appointment, and help your brain feel relaxed. While getting your nails done, you are forced to spend time away from your phone and end up disconnecting. Being present and away from our phones is what allows us to relax and clear our minds (how often do we do this nowadays?!).
8. Enhanced Self-Esteem
Practicing self care is an easy way to increase your self-esteem as you are investing time and money in yourself. When you’re investing in yourself, you’re sending a positive message to your subconscious telling it that YOU matter, and you’re worth the cost. Even though getting your nails done may only be for a short amount of time, the benefits last a couple of weeks.

I want to help others feel good about themselves without having to spend hundreds of dollars for the same services I offer, elsewhere. I’ve made my prices affordable so everyone can engage in self care when they have some down time.
