Thinking about laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses concentrated beams of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. The laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicles. This absorption generates heat, which damages the hair follicles and inhibits future hair growth. This treatment is safe for all skin types. Treatments should be done every 4-8 week intervals with maintenance every 6-12 months or at the first visible signs of hair re-growth. Studies have shown up to 80% reduction in hair after a series of treatments. Different areas have different percentages of hair in the anagen phase at any given time. The anagen phase is when your hair grows—your hair follicle forms a new hair shaft. Face, underarms, bikini have approximately 20-35%. Buttocks and extremities have approximately 10-20%.

Re-treatment intervals are: 
Face, underarms and bikini (4-6 weeks)
Buttocks (8-10 weeks)
Arms and legs (10-12 weeks) 
Or within 7 days or when re growth is observed.  

For best results multiple treatments are needed. For most areas 4-6 treatments are necessary to achieve desired hair clearance. Individuals may need more or less than 6 treatments depending on hair type, previous methods of hair removal and skin colour. Efficacy varies by individual. 

​Before treatment: shave hair with a new razor 24-48 hours prior to your appointment. No plucking, waxing or tweezing for 6 weeks prior to and after laser hair removal. 
After treatment: you can reduce any discomfort and swelling with cool compresses, aloe Vera, topical cortisone cream and spf 30+.
